Ananth Mahadevan is a popular actor, screenwriter and director and has worked in these capacities in various Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Malayalam films, television shows and web series, in India. He is also a massive theatre enthusiast, and has been a part of many English and Hindi plays.
Born on 28th August 1950, in Thrissur, Kerala, he started his career in 1980 with his debut film Khaandan. Since then, he has given some really memorable performances in movies as Brijbhan Chawla in Chandni (1989), Vishwanath Sharma in Baazigar (1993), Pasha Polyster in Kanoon (1993), Anand Mhatre in Kyo Ki.. Main Jhuth Nahi Bolta (2001), Babu in EMI (2008), Subba Prasad in The Xpose (2014), Damodar in Evening Shadows (2018), to name a few. He has been a part of various television shows like The Sword of Tipu Sultan, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Junoon, Ghar Jamai, Zabaan Sambhalke, Jaan, Devi and his latest stint as RBI Governor S. Venkitaramanan in the web series Scam 1992, has been widely praised. He has written and directed movies like Dil Maange More, Aksar, Anamika, to name a few.
He also has various accolades attached to his name. He was the recipient of the National Award for the Best Screenplay and Dialogues in 2010 for a Marathi movie called Mee Sondhutai Sapkal. His film ‘Gour Hari Dastaan’ was featured in the International Film Festival of India in Goa, Bangalore and Kerala in 2014.
Ananth Mahadevan has been a core member of the group of artists at AGP World. He played the role of a typical Indian father in the comedy play ‘Blame it on Yashraj’. More recently, he has acted in and co-directed a short film called ‘The Knocker’, for AGP World’s UnScripted But Real venture, which has already won an award at the Madrid Film Festival and has been nominated in various other International Film Festivals like Four Corner Film Festival, Rajasthan International Film Festival, Madrid Art Film Festival, Austria International Film Festival, to name a few.
