Minissha Lamba, born on 18th January 1985, is an Indian film actress who is currently a professional poker player and plays poker tournaments. Born in New Delhi, she completed her schooling mainly from Army Public School in Srinagar, and went on to major in English (Hons) from Miranda House, University of Delhi.
While she was studying at Delhi University, she started modelling for ad campaigns like L.G, Sony, Cadbury, Hajmola, Sunsilk, etc. It was during this time when she was discovered by Bollywood filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who signed her for his film Yahaan in 2005. After her debut, she went on to playing supporting and leading roles in movies such as Corporate, Rocky: The Rebel, Anthony Kaun Hai, Honemoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Anamika, Dus Kahaniyaan, Bachna Ae Haseeno (her biggest success till date), Kidnap and Well Done Abba, which was awarded the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues in the year 2010. One of her last appearances in the movies was in a film called Bhoomi in 2017.
Apart from movies, she has also worked in television. She has acted in shows like Chhoona Hai Aasmaan, Tenali Rama and Internet Wala Love. She was also a contestant in the eight season of the reality show Bigg Boss. She has also featured in singer Himesh Reshamiya’s music video of the song ‘Aap ka Suroor’.
In 2018, she starred in a play produced by AGP World, called ‘Mirror Mirror’. It is a psychological thriller where Minissha plays 13 characters! Both, the play and her performance have been widely acclaimed.
